While it’s still contemporary fiction, it has a heavier romance line, and it deals with issues of racism, islamophobia, chronic illness, and casualties of war. I complained in my last review that while the book was good, it was fluffy contemporary fiction, which is not where my current tastes lie. I finally did – and this just solidifies S. Ali’s first book, Saints and Misfits, and quite enjoyed it, so I knew I’d be picking this one up eventually.
